Booksmart - For Readers, By Readers
-
With the pandemic, more people turned to books and movies as a form of escapism and bookstores saw sales grow exponentially within the last 2 years. This means websites like Goodreads were seeing more traffic and readers were demanding more from these kinds of platforms. Enter Booksmart. Not only can you create virtual bookshelves and libraries to store your TBR, but you can also connect with other readers online.

Booksmart started as a quick little project to create a website for a class to use to learn and display Javascript skills as we were learning them. As the semester continued, I was able to flush out more brand ideas for this concept and created a homepage for a website to compete with the likes of Goodreads. I started by coming up with a logo, colors and general aesthetic of the brand and began coding the homepage. Using Javascript I created a yearly book goal calculator at the bottom of the page to draw users into signing up for an account.

Below you can see the homepage of Booksmart. It strongly communicates the brand and the objectives for the user to sign up and be part of the community available to them.
