The Zine.
-
The client is was my professor who gave me the task of creating a spread for a Christian fashion magazine for women. The deliverables were to be 2 spreads about women’s fashion trends at the time.
-
I started with a moodboard to flesh out the ideas I had and get an idea of what I wanted the spread to look like. When doing this I found the pictures I wanted to use and the fonts.
After the moodboard, I moved onto conceptualizing the design. I was given a basic InDesign template to work with and began laying out my photos, headings, and information. I used inspiration shown on the moodboard to organize my information and photos in a way that made sense and followed traditional magazine layout styles, while still being able to create a unique spread.
-
Once completed, the spread was exported as a PDF. Because this was a class assignment, we never saw it printed in magazine format, so I put it into a mockup to show what that would look like.
The Moodboard
I did simple Google searches of modest women’s fashion as well as fonts and magazine layouts I wanted to use as inspiration. From my research on my moodboard, I found the photos I wanted to use in my project and I was able to integrate them when designing the spreads. (images are not mine and are used for education
The Final Design
One spread was designed to be more image focused and fashion centered in terms of trendy styles and wardrobe essentials [titled: “Spring Styles” and “Lookbook 2019”], while the other was intended to be more informative and educational [titled: “Sunday Morning” and “Modesty as a Millennial.”
